Default TV preview: Imagine ‘Mi Aaji Aur Saheb’?

From what we’ve heard about the show so far, it sure seems that way

Anil Kapoor-Sridevi-starrer Lamhe didn’t exactly set cash registers ringing, but it has not deterred the guys at Imagine from airing a show that seems to be on similar lines. Titled Mi Aaji Aur Saheb, the show revolves around a young schoolgirl Megha who lives with her maternal grandmother (Aaji) since her mother is dead and her father refuses to take care of her.

Megha’s Aaji is a housekeeper for Vishwaas, whom the two ladies affectionately call Saheb. The three develop a close bond over time. We’ve heard from reliable sources that after a few months, Megha will grow up into a beautiful young woman much to the surprise of Vishwaas. But when quizzed about this, Sandit Kumar, who plays Vishwaas, said he has no idea about if and when the story will take a leap. “We’ve just started shooting and I don’t know anything about a leap,” he said. However, the press release from Imagine TV states clearly, “(Megha) grows up idolising Vishwaas, and their relationship takes on a new dimension when Vishwaas sees the gawky schoolgirl Megha as a confident, young lady years later.”
Now those of you who have watched Lamhe will remember a similar plot line in the Yash Chopra film. Pooja (Sridevi) is being taken care of by Dai Jaa (Waheeda Rehman) ever since her parents were killed in a car crash. Dai jaa is the former governess of Virendra Pratap Singh (Anil Kapoor). Pooja grows up idolising Viren and when they finally meet, she falls in love with him despite their age difference. After much persuasion and heartbreak, Viren too falls in love with her.

Mi Aaji Aur Saheb premieres on February 6 at 9.30pm on Imagine TV
