Sri Lanka’s historic 2-1 series win against Australia has moved them to the second position in the latest ICC ODI rankings. This was also Sri Lanka’s first ever series victory against Australia in Australia.
The win earned them three points taking their tally to 118 points. The Australians are still the table toppers with 128 points. India, with 117 points, is in the third place and a 5-0 series win against the visiting New Zealand will help them regain the second spot with 121 points..

South Africa is in the fourth place with 115 points after their 3-2 win against Pakistan in the recently concluded ODI series in the United Arab Emirates. England is in the fifth place with 112 points.
However, the standings may change before the World Cup that is scheduled to begin from February 19. Sri Lankans get an opportunity to increase their points when they meet the West Indies in Lanka from December 9 while the Indians will get an opportunity to play against the Springboks in their own backyard in January.
Australia will be playing England in an ODI series after the Ashes.
