Default Another satellite to crash on earth soon?

After causing near panic among some that it might crash on their heads, the defunct NASA satellite- UARS- ended up hitting exactly nobody, and fell rather peacefully into the Pacific Ocean.

However, the threat from earth's orbiting friends is not over yet- star gazers can brace themselves for yet another satellite crashing on the earth in less than a few weeks.

ROSAT, or the Röntgen Satellite, is on its way back to earth, and has a 1-in-2000 chance of hitting someone - higher than the 1-in-3,200 odds NASA gave for UARS.

The German Space Agency estimates the number of objects surviving re-entry to be 30. Debris may include sharp mirror shards, says a report by the UK Daily Mail.

The satellite was developed through a cooperative program between Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom. It was launched by the US on June 1, 1990. The mission ended after almost nine years, on February 12, 1999.
