The reasons are varied, but these are some actors who are brilliant at their job, but still sitting at home twiddling their thumbs, waiting for that elusive film offer to come their way. Tabu's brilliance shone through almost every role she has done. Her outstanding performances were in films like 'Chandni Bar', 'Astitva', 'Virasat', etc. She spends most of her time in Hyderabad, with good friends Nagarjuna and Amala. Was last seen in an immensely forgettable 'Toh Baat Pakki'.

    Juhi Chawla
This chirpy, fantastic actress has done some amazing roles. Her comic timing is outstanding. Yet, Juhi mostly ends up getting offers to do 'bhabhi' kind of roles. Was last seen and appreciated in 'Luck By Chance'.

    Madhuri Dixit
This super actress with the most brilliant smile could go on for a while, if she hadn't settled for happy matrimony in Denver with Sriram Nene. She did try making a comeback with YRF's 'Aaja Nachle'. She has been extremely choosy with the offers that were made to her.

    Rani Mukherjee
Rani made a smashing entry into films and rose to instant fame with Karan Johar's 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. Twelve years and many stunning performances later, Rani is left with not too many assignments. This could be blamed on the fact that Rani preferred working for good friend Aditya Chopra's YRF, over other banners. Was last seen in YRF's 'Dil Bole Hadippa'.

    Karisma Kapoor
The rage of the '90s, Karisma married businessman Sanjay Kapur and moved to Delhi Soon after. She came back to Mumbai in search of good work. But things haven't really worked the way she would have liked to, and now she's back in Delhi, busy looking after daughter Samaira. Was last seen in 'Mere Jeevan Sathi'.

    Nana Patekar
A power packed performer. His downfall has been his stereotypical choice of roles and of course, his attitude. Has a temper problem which needs to be tempered. Last heard old loyalist Prakash Jha has decided not to work with him in future. Last seen: In a fantastic performance in 'Rajneeti'.

    Manoj Bajpai
When he made a debut as the awe-inspiring Bhiku Mhatre in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Satya', it seemed like there is no stopping Manoj Bajpai. But Manoj's downfall apparently came when he insisted on playing solo leads and turned down all supporting roles. Now of course, Bajpai has come around and his last film was 'Rajneeti', where he played a pivotal role.

    Akshaye Khanna
This brooding actor son of Vinod Khanna has always stolen hearts with his performances in films like 'Taal', 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Race', 'Naqaab', etc. But it is his devil may care attitude that seems to have worked against him. Was last seen in 'Race'.
